Corporate Identity: Bao Bei Chinese Brasserie
Today we’re showing off one of the many outstanding pieces done by Canadian design company Glasfurd & Walker. In fact this project was the Winner Of The 2010 Applied Arts Complete Design Program – Campaign Award and it really does deserve all of the wonderful attention.

I think that one of the things that draws a person in on this project is the marriage of old and new that has been done so exquisitely. I think the Chinese culture has such a rich design heritage that it would have been sad for them to not have referenced it in their designs, but the wonderful thing is the way that they showed that culture in a modern way. For instance if you look at the very first image in this post of the signage, that signage reminds one of typical China Town signage and then just after that you see the beautiful stamp, something that is seen on almost every single Chinese print ever made.

The Chinese knew what minimalism really was all about and here once again the designer has taken that old aspect and used it to give it a very modern edge. In fact when I look at the branding it gives me a feeling of calm and nostalgia, which is fantastic emotions for when you think of a restaurant!

This room reminds me so much of the beautiful 50’s Chinese print I used to own before my cleaning lady made it fall and destroyed it.

Well, all that talk about Chinese food made me crave Chinese so much that I might just go to my favorite Chinese place tonight! Happy Wednesday everyone!
