Corporate Identity for TeachingShop
I am very excited about today’s Friday Inspiration! This one has been sitting on my desk for a while, and every time I see it, it’s awesome all over again! This wonderful branding is the brainchild of David Robinson trading as Lick Studio.
“TeachingShop approached us to create a cohesive brand identity for a new education focused e-book resource website. The stylised logo marque provided the basis for an illustration style that became integral to the brand and throughout their online presence. Due to go live in Spring 2011, we designed the e-commerce website in addition to a number of email newsletters which support the fresh-thinking, friendly and focused ethos of the business.”

Identity
I just love this logomark so much, it’s so clean and simple yet says so much! The “Open book” that creates the owl’s brow is such an awesome and thoughtful detail. This brand could so easily have gone down the ugly corporate look and feel of education, but it didn’t and that is why it is so brilliant.

The font is a good mid-way between something quirky but still serious. You need that “educational” feel to make the brand credible, and this font has the best of both worlds.
The colors chosen are really fantastic, once again you see “educational” inspiration with the updated fresher looking blue and the yellow complements it so well. The grey also provides that idea of credibility that is necesary for a project like this.
